Yesterday I got the abit Board and it works really great. Now I installed all th driver but there is noc HDMI Audio Driver available. I use Vista and have two entries in the controlPanal. For One the R.169 Driver worked and I have sound over the Optical SPDIF but I don't find the Driver for HDMI. For Boards with the 690G chipset there is a driver avalable on the Realtek site. (ATI HDMI Audio) but where is the Nvidia one.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Unfortunately, I can't really help you but I'm really interested in getting this board so I was wondering if you could provide some information.
So I was wondering what else came in the box (cables, expansion cards, etc). I haven't read anything but I imagine that it would come it an HDMI to DVI cable. But I was wondering what else was there.
What ram are you using? I was thinking about getting 2 gigs (2x1) of GSkill DDR2 800 but some boards are picky about the ram they take.
Anything interesting to note with respect to the board for installation?
Who'd you buy it from? I was considering Buy(dot)com, Yoyotech, or Aria but may stores in the States haven't been listing it yet, it seems.
Anything else that you would consider notable would be awesome.
Thanks.

ditto to that. I'm interested in this board because mATX, independent dual display support, and HDCP enabled HDMI. All I want to do with a HTPC is rip my collection of SD-DVD's to a HDD, play them on a HDMI display, whilst at the same time use a VGA/USB touchscreen to control it. Is this MOBO the best choice for me?

I have this board and found the onboard graphics to be kind of a disappointment. It actually performs better for SD video playback with hardware acceleration turned off.
You can get SPDIF audio out of the HDMI port by downloading the update from the Abit website.

Really? I'm running V15 BIOS, the abit driver package, RealTek R-164 from Abit's site and the d/l as well. I HAD loaded the R-179 from the RealTek site thinking it might help but it didn't. What I found was I'd get occasional sound via the HDMI but it had dropouts every few seconds. How's yours working? Oh.. maybe it's something in the settings: I want to pass the stream and let my A/V receiver decode the AC3 stream.

The RealTek drivers are not intended for HDMI audio. You need the Nvidia's HDMI audio drivers, if you want HDMI audio.
As mentioned above there are 2 audio devices, 1 is for the Realtek chip (analog audio/optical spdif) the other for the Nvidia hdmi.

First off.. I'd stated: '..RealTek R-164 from Abit's site and the d/l as well.' meaning the HDMI driver. With that said I've had BOTH loaded and see two audio devices in the SOUNDS function. Let me ask.. say you want the AC3 to passthrough to the HDMI device.. how do I configure it? WHEN I was using SPDIF I'd select SPDIF ON and it would passthrough to the optical output just fine. With this additional device HOW do you get passthrough? I was figuring the SPDIF output would be intercepted or duplicated by the HDMI-Audio but that wasn't working..

What if you set the HDMI device as the preferred device (via the sound applet in the notification bar) and/or disable the Realtek? I'd always disable those devices that I don't use.

Disable? You can only choose one device, hence the RealTek driver is still loaded but you've selected the HDMI-Audio device. For example, in PowerDVD if I select HDMI I get 2-ch PCM stereo. If I select Use SPDIF I get dropped streams of AC3. And WHAT about other apps that need audio -- even the SOUNDS panel where you TEST audio is spotty.
So.. yours works with AC3/DTS streams, mobo sounds and all, just like the SPDIF does?
